I had zero motivation this past week. I spent my weekend being an idiot. My work could be a lot better. (Though it can always be better regardless.)
Pine Cone [WIP 2012-09-14]
Been working on this since almost the beginning of the semester. Mostly drawn in-class. We were given two weekends to work on it outside class. It still needs a little fixing.
Sack Drop [2012-09-13 & 2012-09-17]
Tree Silhouettes [2012-09-17]
The tree assignment this week was to take the silhouettes from last week and imagine the trees 50 years from now. I am sad to say, I wasn't very creative.
Sketches at Happy Hallow [2012-09-19]
Teacher said the fox was too stationary and always in that curled up position. It moved even less when I went to see it today, so I decided to draw goats instead.
I'm actually pretty happy with these. The goats started off horrible, but they're getting better. :D PYGMY GOATS ARE CUTE. THEY'RE FAT WITH STUBBY LEGS. And I feel such kinship with them. XD
25 trees a week this semester. I hear my other class has 25 animals, too. I am going to die.
First week of trees. Focus is on proportions. This was the best-looking page:

Best page of second week of trees. Attempted to make trees look like they have visibly different foliage.

I'll try to get better scans/photographs next time.

Animation assignment. Basic, looping ball bounce. Sorry it doesn't loop here. I'll find some way to fix that next time, maybe.
I don't really like this one. I think my ball bounce from 2 years ago was better. But then again, I spent much more time on it.
That's all I have for now. I still need to go through my summer sketchbook and upload things. That'll happen... eventually...
I AM BACK FROM CHINA. Been back for a couple weeks actually. And school has started. I need to scan pages from my summer sketchbook to upload. For now, have my first animation assignment of this semester!
Uh. It needs to be looped to really look good. Youtube needs a loop function. Seriously.
This turned out a lot better than I expected, actually. Haven't animated on paper in a while.
Oh and here's the animation final that I never uploaded. It consists of mostly the same stuff from my midterm, except made a bit better. And then there's a character walk at the end. Which is the entire reason I remembered I needed to upload this, because my pencil test is based off the character walk in here.
AX was exhausting, but fun. I made just enough to cover my costs. XD Good enough for a first year.
Our table. Yes that's me.
So I drew more prints. Here are the ones I have yet to post. I suppose I sorta already posted the Avatar/Korra ones. But I added faces!
The Legend of Korra: Bolin
Avatar the Last Airbender: Toph Bei Fong
Avatar the Last Airbender: Ty Lee
Durarara!: Celty Sturluson
Durarara!: Sonohara Anri
I turned the Pokemon and FMA 1x1 digital paintings into 4x4 prints. They were also made into buttons and cell phone straps, but they looked better as prints, I think. Oh I made a ton of buttons. Or 27 to be exact. Here's a photo. :D
What isn't displayed outside the box isn't mine.
My tablemate, Sonia, says my art isn't really suited for buttons. I should focus on commissions. I shall do that next year. At Fanime. AX is too far.
Was going to watercolor something like usual, but was too lazy to get up from my bed/computer. So I vectored instead. Vectoring takes hours and hours and is a lot more effort than watercoloring. Except not getting up from my bed/computer apparently outweighs the cons of hours of work. >____>
There's a ticket for the concert that matches this poster. And I'm working on the program for the concert. That'll probably feature this on the cover. Minus the price.
They also asked for a more formal/sophistocated poster for a performance we're doing at the Forbidden City Concert Hall. Except they only gave me a day's notice for that. It became a rush job in which I used a former layout and just changed the words. ;-;
I'll upload what I did for finals at a later date. Eventually. I AM ALSO GOING TO REINSTATE THE ONE PRINT A DAY CHALLENGE FROM WINTER BREAK. That will begin... Tomorrow. >____>
All students at my university are required to take an upper division writing class. My major requires that we take the version of the class offered by the Theatre Arts department. Our class consisted of writing narratives, scripts, and learning career writing. Halfway through the semester, each class chose 3 scripts from their respective section of the course. The assignment was to produce the play, movie, or, in our case, puppet show.
Mie gave me the idea for my script. It miraculously got chosen in my class section. I got 7 amazing classmates to work with on producing my puppet show.
Originally, it was supposed to be an animation. Since I'm an animation student. But it would take too long to produce, so I changed it to a puppet show.
The title's similarity to the Zelda franchise is pure coincidence. But I did put Zelda music in.
It's in the video, but here are the props we used. Photographs courtesy of Jeanette Chan.
It turned out a lot better than I expected with the limited amount of time we had. Thank you to everyone that helped out with this project! :D
